Listening to pupils is important to any school but at Cove we ensure that every pupils has the opportunity to be heard.
Each term the pupils have the chance to give their opinions on different topics through pupil questionnaires. These are always anonymous so that the pupils can be open and honest. In turn we as a school like to be open and honest so we involve, where possible, the governing body in the reviewing of the pupils’ responses.
However, we also feel that the pupil body needs to be represented on a more regular basis. As a result we hold elections at the start of the school year. You can meet this year’s elected representatives by clicking on the side menu.
At Cove we also feel the students need positive role models, people to support and encourage them. As a result our House Captains are also elected early in the school year from our Year 6 Pupils.
School Council
We are very proud of our school council. They carry out really important work throughout the year, not only by representing their class but by amazing ambassadors for the school.
Their many roles include;
– Giving tours of the school for prospective pupils, parents and staff.
– Raising money for their chosen charities and for the school.
– Bringing ideas, about how to improve the school, from their class mates to their meetings.
– Taking on key roles within the council itself, such as Chair and Treasurer.
– Making decisions on how to best spend their annual budget to improve the provision in school.
… and much, much more
Each member of the school council has had to make a presentation to their class and have then been elected by their peers, not by the school staff.
